Drop Spindle Question
This might sound like a stupid question but I am in the process of restoring my 69 C10. It was lowered "the wrong way". The frame was all chopped up in the back and front well.....I fixed the rear suspension with real drop springs and blocks with a real c-notch kit but now i need to work on the front. It looks like it has cut springs, with a bunch of washers spacing out the A-arms. Is there a way I can tell if the spindles are dropped or stock? I want to lower the front at least 4" if not 5" but I want to ensure it handles well. Any recommendations on "front only kits" or what I need to make this happen? Any assistance in this would be appreciated.

You need a 3" drop spindle and a 2" spring to make a 5" drop.
Spring only drop should not exceed 3". You will also need drop shocks. Post some pics of your suspension. It's easy to verify drop spindles.

Stock height spindle, notice where the hub mounts, its lower to the ground.
Drop spindle, notice where the hub mounts, its higher from the ground. Hope this helps Scott |

No one has asked.... You mention it's a 69, does it still have drum brakes up front?

No it was converted to disk. Not sure if this matters but its still 6 lug. Thanks for the pictures AustinScott I appreciate it. That makes it easier for me. this is my first build from ground up and I have never realy payed attention to chasis with anything I have done so this is really helpful.
