Project: BLOWNUP

This is my 1985 Silverado. I bought it this last fall so I had something to drive to car shows and cruise nights while I am redoing my 70 C10. So after putting about 500 miles on it after I got it I noticed a sever oil leak. Well turns out that the PO hadnt driven the truck in quit some time and all the gaskets had dried out, and I blow out the rear main seal. So while talking to a friend who works at the local parts store he informed me that he had a Weiand 144 mini blower. Well this had gone from a rering kit to a blower motor. Here are the plans.

2/4 Drop-Done
15gal Fuel Cell-Done
Rering Kit
ARP Main Stud Kit
ARP Rod Bolts
Weiand 144 Blower
Summit Racing Blower Cam .488/510 LSA 114
Hedman 1 3/4 Primary Headers
Holley HP 750 conversion (has a 600 just need to switch the main body)
Richmond 3.73 Gears
Eaton Detroit Locker
Torque Converter(unknow lock up)
and if the buget allows
Dart SPH heads with 72 CC combustion chambers
Summit 1.5 Roller Rockers

Re: Project: BLOWNUP

Well I got my cam ordered today, and my buddy who works at napa is going to see if he can get me a deal on the rering kit and studs through work. I will post pics of the current motor and the fuel system this weekend.

Re: Project: BLOWNUP

Thanks for the complements. Well I have figured out my paint scheme. It is gonna be based off this 85 only option, The main color will be white and the strip will be the blue that is already on the truck. I found this pic here on the forum. I love the wealth of knowledge this place has.

Yeah the knowledge on this forum is the best. I don't think i've actually ever seen a truck painted in that setup before. At least your truck will be diferent and stick out.

Re: Project: BLOWNUP

Also not trying to say your rims are ugly or anything like that, but you ever thought about maybe putting Centerlines on it? I think they would look killer but thats just me.

Its color scheme is called "Wrangler" and was an option package here in Canada.

Were more of them up here than you could ever imagine....none were SWB to my knowledge though so yours would be the first!

Yeah after I finish the blower wheels are next, I am looking at a set of weld pro stars 96 seriers or centerline Convo Pro Streets . I am running a 315 tire out back and have some rubbing on the fender lip so i need a different back spacing, and the fronts are too wide for my taste. So I will have to figure out the back spacing and rim widths

Re: Project: BLOWNUP

Hello all,
Well I should have all the money I need for my Blower once my Tax Return shows up. As I said before I got my cam and valve springs. The springs are good up to .550 lift. They came is .488/.510 114LSA 234/244 degrees of duration. Both are summit racing peices The came is what was recommened by Holly to got with their 144 142 blowers so I am excited. Well here are the pics of the valve train pieces.

Well I got my carb parts ordered, and will be picking my blower in the next week or so. Once all the parts show up I will pull the motor. I will get some before picks up tomorrow and pics of parts as they show up.

Re: Project: BLOWNUP

Ok I got some pics of the fuel cell and the 350 as it sits. Everything is a little dusty from sitting all winter in the storage unit. On the shot of the top of the motor you can kind of see where the antifreeze has come throught the intake bolts. The fuel cell is a 15 gal Jegs unit without the sending unit. I am running 1/2" fuel line up to the fuel pump and 3/8" line from the pump to the carb.
