1978 CC Dually I picked up the other day

Here it is. It has a factory tach, I found the build sheet still under the seat, the engine has never been touched, the speedometer it right on, it hasn't been inspected since 97 so it might just have 74k original miles, and i think the exhaust might even be original lol. Oh I think it used to have one of those Am/Fm CB radios, because the box is still behind the seat which would have been under the front seat and attached to the radio. I think that's one of the dealer brush guards on the front too. Its kind of ugly now but it will get a lot better, and a K30 frame...

I plan on fixing it up a little to make it drivable and just drive it while im finishing up my GMC then I will eventually make it 4x4 with a P-pumped 24V cummins, NV4500, Np205, boxed frame, 81-87 front clip, and paint it Blue & White to match my GMC.

Re: 1978 CC Dually I picked up the other day

PLEASE keep the 70's front clip on it. There aren't too many round-eye crew cabs around anymore, let alone one with a Cummins on a 4x4 frame. I think the early front ends look so much meaner than the 80's style. Either way, nice rig. It's cool to see one that's completely stock, there aren't many around anymore.

Re: 1978 CC Dually I picked up the other day

I know, I really really like the round eye front end too but I also want to have CC dually version of my GMC. I still have plenty of time to change my mind so we will just have to see...

Re: 1978 CC Dually I picked up the other day

Ive decided im keeping the 78 front end when I do everything else to it, but its still going to be blue and white. Here's what it looks like now, I have a nice pipe bumper on the back of it too but I forgot to get a picture. Im going to get a straight front bumper on it eventually and get rid of that grille guard.

Haha well I haven't done too much more to it that I can think of. I do have another 800cfm Qjet im rebuilding for it and im going to make a carb spacer out of some mahogany I have. Im going to get the A/C system all working pretty soon too, I also need to fix the hole in the seat.

Re: 1978 CC Dually I picked up the other day

Ill make sure to get pictures.

Most of the trim pieces are there but not that great, I'll probably end up buying all new ones after it gets painted. I have a better set of silverado badges I need to strip and repaint for it.

Yeah I cant wait for it to be 4x4 with the cummins!

Re: 1978 CC Dually I picked up the other day

The plan is for a P-pumped 24V cummins, and NV4500. The 5 speed has more available parts then the 6 and its smaller, lighter, cheaper and can be plenty strong with a upgraded input shaft. I was planning on using a divorced Np205 for the T-case but I may end up looking for a atlas instead.
