Any bolt in c-notches for 48-54 trucks?

Just curious if anyone has a bolt in c-notch kit for our trucks. Thanks

I don't think a guy would really want a bolt in C notch in the long run. Someone might have one for a small notch though to keep a static height lowered truck from banging the axle on the frame like mine did.

Once you get it all bolted up, stop off at a local muffler shop and have them weld it in place - cheap!

Re: Any bolt in c-notches for 48-54 trucks?

i'm not sure that you would want a bolt in c-notch.
welded in would reinforce the frame back to some semblance of rigidity.
bolt in, you might as well cut the c-notch and do nothing else to it.

welding in the c-notch and boxing the frame in that are is required to make the section resist bending.
my 58 has a minimal c-notch and is still on leaf springs, i added reinforcing over the notch and boxed the frame.

if your still on leaf springs this is the way i would do it, as you go over a bump, half your weigh is transferred to either side of your spring.
with out the added reinforcement your frame will flex and eventually fatigue and crack at the c-notch.

if you have a 4 link, you still need to weld it to support the cantilevered weight of the box, frame and tank, plus any load in the bed.
you might not need to box the section, but i would do it.

what ever you choose to do, you need to get back to the strength and rigidity of the original frame.
custom classic trucks did a bolt in c-notch on their c10, project 'shorty' and then welded everything afterwards.

I am hoping for a bolt in c-notch for the simplicity of installation because its prefabbed for the application. I would plan to actually weld it in place instead. I just dont want to have to fabricate something from total scratch. Thanks for your input

Honestly, did you really read my original post? I asked if there was a bolt in FOR 48-54 TRUCKS Your first link is for 88-98 trucks, your second link is universal for mid size trucks and suv and your third link is a generic universal. But in short, what the heck is google? Breakfast cereal? LOL

my c-notch is a slice of 4'' sch 40 pipe, no real fabrication involved.
cut off 2'' slice. cut out c-notch. hammer ends a bit. weld in.

i have a 4 ft piece. how much do you need?

Porter Built may have one for your truck. Looked this am but got frustrated fast. They don't appear to have an online catalog of products that I could find. I said, "screw it then". As I'm guessing a lot of potential customers must!

I don't know how your welding is but you said you will weld them anyway so I assume you can weld. They are pretty easy to make and you can save yourself some money. This is how I made mine. If this does not help ignore my post because I don't want to get into a pissing match. I was only giving an easy alternative.

I used both google and webcrawler before asking here. If i would have found them i wouldnt have asked. I dont go into others threads and post worthless smartass comments saying things like "Honestly, has no one ever heard of Google?" So again i say "if you cant reply to a post with any helpful info then dont post" which is ALL i sent you in private. For clarification to everyone else the "if you do not like what I said then man up and keep your mouth shut." part of the quote above was not from me but added by him. I never said that nor would i and if need be i am sure a moderator will verify that. Thanks and i do appreciate the help guys, seriously.

I am not much of a welder, lightweight body panels only which is why i was hoping for a bolt in then transport the frame to the welder for final welding. However it looks like i will probably end up making them from scratch like you did as there doesnt seem to be an exact fit bolt in unit. I really appreciate your posting this. Thanks

I'm thinking you can do all the fab work and weld it (just bevel your pieces and you will get deeper penetration) in and have who ever is doing your final welding to go over your welds. That way its basically the same that you were trying to do with a bolt in kit and in my opinion it looks cleaner.
