Hey from Texas
Hello Guys,
This is my first post on this forum. I wanted to get a picture up of my new truck. I bought it just as you see it for $5500. It has a 350 that runs great with a standard on the floor 4 speed tranny. I am not a mechanic so I cant do a lot of the work myself but I do have a guy that is helping me do some upgrades on it. We are going to put a front clip in it and add a turbo 350 trans. Also will do some interior work as well. Trying to get it ready for the big rally in Austin on the 14 and 15 of April. This is the third truck I have owned. I've also enjoyed a 57 Chevy, and a 47 Dodge in the past and sold them both. This seems to be the truck that was meant for me. I was born in 55, the truck is a 55, and I paid $5500 for it..the trifecta is in place. Cheers, Bob Montgomery Last edited by srvtexas; 03-03-2012 at 11:55 AM. |

Re: Hey from Texas
Thanks very much. Im sure I will have questions as I go along.
The window and door handles are not staying on and the shafts are stripped out. I think I will go with electric windows and then try and figure something out on the door handles. Also need to build a center console to go between the seats, might add some speakers to the console some way since I love to cruise and listen to some great tunes. It has an underdash AC that I was told just need some freon, fingers crossed on that. The underdash unit needs some new louvers, not sure what to do there. I will need some new gauges, none work now but the speedo. Talked to a guy who owns an upholdstery shop about some sound dampening for the cab...he said... he has used roof shingles and they work great and are a lot cheaper than the silver stuff...kind of makes some sense, not so sure about that. |

Re: Hey from Texas
Look down it the paint section on do it yourself lizard skin, the PO of my truck used tarpaper and latex calk, what a mess and smell. your door handle problem could be the handles are stripped out inside, there should be groves in there, if they are okay then it is the regulator, both are easy to replace and rather cheep as well.
