76' Floor shift column in 82' SWB
Thinking about possibly swapping in the column from a 76' (manual floor shift) in my 82' to round out the auto to manual swap. Will this work without a hitch or, will I have to change the turn singal cam and wiring?

Re: 76' Floor shift column in 82' SWB
I think there was a change to the turn signal connector plug sometime around 76/77. I know some of the service replacement turn signal switches come with an adapter that needs to be used for some applications. You might be able to get the adapter separately (if necessary) or swap out the whole switch/wire assembly from your old column.
Sometime around 79/80, they changed the lower end of the steering column from a splined shaft to a double-D. So be sure to also get the lower/intermediate shaft from the 76. I don't think the existing shaft in your 82 will fit the lower end of the 76 column. |
