Re: 71 c10, upgrades/rebuild-my first truck

Cool build! I had a 70 CST I drove in high school, traded it for a motorcycle in 2005 and have regretted it everyday. I bought my 71 in 2010 to become my DD again and enjoy every minute of it. I'd look at something a little larger on the cam. I had a 355 in my 70 with stock milled heads, intake, carb, and a Crane 272H, and it was a great match. So I'm thinking go with something with a little more lift like .500 or just under, and a decent duration to allow you head work to shine. If you go short lift short duration, your cylinders don't have time to fill as full as possible. Big thing is choose the gears first, because you need to know where the truck is RPM wise, before your can determine where you need the power ie. cam specs!

My old pickup for inspiration.
