4l60e tips

Couple of questions. What is the correct placement of the vent hose that is attached
top of the 4l60e? There's an open end in the hose and a end with a plastic piece in it.
How did you guys mount it or is it needed? Also how is the easiest way to mate it to the
engine out of the vehicle.

Thanks.

Re: 4l60e tips

The hose is on the vent tube for the trans. The hose is there so if it were to get hot enough to pike trans fluid out its routed away from the hot exhaust, the other end of the hose has a plastic vent thing in it.

To mate the trans out of the vehicle, I usually balance the engine on the oil pan by putting some blocks under the crank pulley, then put the trans on some blocks to make it the right height and slide them together. Does take some special preparation if they are both Mickey painted though.
