question about glove box option sticker
I was just going through the original paper work on my 66 short bed and noticed that my original glove box sticker says engine conversion on the top left. Has anyone else seen this before?

Re: question about glove box option sticker
I was actually sanding my glovebox today wondering what sticker used to be on the inside of my glovebox door. Any idea where the truck was from? Mine came from california and had an air pump on the 250 inline engine which could have something to do with engine conversion? I also have similar options listed on the build sheet behind my seat just wasn't originally a custom like yours.

Re: question about glove box option sticker
i will have to check that out for you, it is very hard to see because of the springs and is very brittle so i dont want to tamper with it too much. ill look tomorrow night. and get back to you. Also i have a decal on the instrument cluster that says "do not maintain speeds over 60mph" and there is light which says "over speed" which i assume comes on in that case.

Re: question about glove box option sticker
Truck must have been assembled in California. Most OR, WA trucks came from Fremont CA. Should find a Z code on VIN. California had tougher smog laws,In 1966 air pumps were first installed on CA 1/2 tons while 3/4 tons with the same engine did not have air pumps. Conversion would be to remove or add smog equipment depending on model and what state delivered to.

So, did all CA C-10's have smog equip originally in 66? Vehicles this old are smog exempt now, so it's no wonder you don't see the equipment in place anymore. |

Re: question about glove box option sticker
i am not sure about 66 trucks with smog pump but i had a 68 panel truck with 250 six and smog pump. a guy i worked with had a 68 panel truck with a v8 and had no smog pump. his was legal because when we owned them you had to have them smogged
