Carburetor Frustration...
This is my first truck and carb install. Ive been to the parts store numerous times and they all seem to be pointing me into the wrong direction in completing this seemingly simple task. I have a 77 swb and im installing an edelbrock carb 1806 on to my stock gm manifold. I got the Adapter/fuel line kit and banjo fitting. I removed the old carb just fine. Now when installing the new carb, I dont see how the throttle cable, kickdown cable or return spring hookup. I checked out the video on Edelbrocks site and ofcourse he breezes through it but my truck is an automatic and I have an extra cable. My throttle cable snapped into this bracket that mounted in the back of the old carb mounting holes but it wont fit onto the new carb because the holes are different. Its almost as if my cables have the wrong type of hookups... and its a little confusing... Here are the pics...
I asked the guy at the auto store to tell me what I need.. He said use Mechanic ingenuity... Really frustrating because I wanted an answer and not a riddle.... Any Ideas? Thanks! |

Re: Carburetor Frustration...
Kinda hard to see but there is a throttle adapter labeled "C". I got mine from Summit racing and it solved my problem, I also had to get a new throttle linkage stud for the carb.

Re: Carburetor Frustration...
The small hole under the giant hole is where your throttle should hook up. You need a throttle stud it looks like. And a bracket for the throttle cable

Re: Carburetor Frustration...
I'd like a Brand and Part Number for one of those brackets. I don't trust the guys at the counter to point me in the right direction, I'd like to have the info going in there.
