Re: Door seals/rubbers
There's a guy I found on the Stovebolt I think called Alan Horvath that has quite a site for fixing up AD's. He has taken pictures of everything he has done and written how he did it (including some part numbers). Basically a Journal of his repairs/customization of his 54 Chevy.
Here's a link to the part of his site for the Windlace installation: http://alanhorvath.com/54chevy/door_windlace.php Last edited by Atomsplitter; 08-11-2010 at 10:48 PM. |

Re: Door seals/rubbers
i was able to slide mine in. but if you have a pinch point pass it up and come back with a screwdriver to push it in.... other wize try steel rubber's version. they tend to fit the truck better than the chineze rubber

Re: Door seals/rubbers
Open up the pinch points first! Part of the issue is that you are supposed to go back and "pinch" those points after the rubber is in. I filled the tracks with Dawn and slid them in. Took forever and made a hell of a mess. Then we pulled them back out for some stupid reason and haven't gone back!! Soon...
I hate it when my rubber gets pinched... |

Re: Door seals/rubbers
Hello Bowties. I am restoring a 52 for a customer. I did all glass n weatherstripping. The U Channel that is bolted on the door can be removed. Look for two screws about one foot below striker mechanism. undo those two and on on the inside of door atop the channel. Channel has a hook that will hold windlace. My windlace is cloth with metal core. Once out of the truck, you can "massage it in the a rubber mallet . Reinstall and cut to length once you reach vent window or go full distance on non vent set ups. Took an hour per side without lubes or sore fingers
