I need some close up pics of the ece mounts installed. Mine are about an inch off on either side if I get a bolt in the mount. I even unbolted the trans from the engine and its still the same. Any help would be appreiated. I will try to get pics of what I have to show yall.

Re: ECE Mounts

Looks like you need to raise the rear of the transmission up. Do you have pictures of the tranny mount?

Re: ECE Mounts

The mounts in your pics look correctly placed.

I had the same problem. Here's what I did:

I had a friend help me with the lift while I was under the car. He would lift or drop the engine on my command and I would either tap the bolts with a hammer or tried to drive them a little forward with my wrench. It took a lot of finagling! I think my buddy even jounced the motor at times.

You could try to change where your chains are attached to the engine to vary it's tilt.

Re: ECE Mounts

I'm not sure about the ECE ones but on the factory frame stands (not sure if that is what they are called) I have there are two sets of holes where the rubber mount can bolt on. I can see that you have an extra lower hole. Not sure if this is the answer but just trying to offer up an idea.

Re: ECE Mounts

have you done any mods on the frame ,i saw the ad from ece. 63-72 Gen III Motor Mount Conversion Kit (Kit)
Looking to install a late model Generation III engine in your 1963-1972 C Series Truck? Early Classic once again leads the way with our new Generation III Mount Conversion Kit that allows you to bolt in a 1999 or newer 4.8,5.3,5.7, or 6.0 GM engine directly into your engine bay. (Slight frame modification may be required, depending on application).

Re: ECE Mounts

What are you using to lift the engine? You may need a leveler system. I also notice in those last 2 pics, there's no bolts in the lower bolt holes, and the fron hole on the driver's side is off center quite a bit.

My suggestion is put all the bolts in the mounts only finger tight, put the engine in and work the mounts and clamshells back and forth and up and down until everything fits, then tighten everything down.

Re: ECE Mounts

I just placed my order for some today. I have quite a few "extra" holes in my frame and cross member from various goofy motor combinations, so I'm curious to see how it works out. ECE's stands look like 73-87 units, so I am considering just welding them once I get everything sat right.

Keep us updated!

Re: ECE Mounts

I finally got it in there and bolted up. I had to move the mount down to the lower holes on the stand and she fell right in. Now i just have to tighten everything up and drill new holes for the trans crossmember.
