I'm so excited!
Getting ready to pull out to go pick up a 91 Burb 4x4! The Burb is not really what is exciting me, it's the fact I get to use my new (to me) Yukon XL to haul something with. I am very anxious to see how this 3/4 SUV does with the monster 8.1 powering it all. I am heading just over the border in to Kansas, will be about 90 miles each way I think. Would have liked a closer trip for the maiden voyage, but I gotta go get this Burb for the price he's asking.
Notice the winch is hooked up, which means what I'm buying is an inop. It'll either be a quick fix of some sorts or a turn and burn for the old gal.

Happy 4th Everybody!
Ok, I still miss my dads F250 with the diesel, but this thing did the job without much issue at all. My poor old 1/2 ton would almost struggle with the empty trailer let alone a loaded trailer. Empty the Yukon did not even know anything was back there. Loaded it knew but it still pulled at 70mph without much of any issues, just took a little longer to get up to speed.
I have come to find that I should have bought a longer trailer. These dang square body suburbans are almost too much for it. I can barely get the rear tires up on the flat portion and you can certainly tell pulling down the road if it were to be up another foot it'd sure pull nicer. Anyways, here are a few photos of what I got for my $600, and it did drive itself up on the trailer! It just won't back itself off or hold in park. I even found the original window sticker in the glove box.

Re: I'm so excited!
I have not done the "what's it weigh" on the last couple. I was very surprised at the 92 K1500 SWB I did a few weeks ago though. I was really thinking it would not be much since it was a short bed and all, but it came in at 4700lbs somehow! I guess the transfer case and stuff weighed enough to make up the difference.
We have built us a scrap hauling trailer at the shop now though. Basically it was an old travel trailer that someone made in to a flat bed trailer and then we added some mesh walls about 4' tall and a gate. Since we have that now, I won't be loading these shells up with our scrap, I"ll just drag it in as is and take what I get. I still have to try and find out exactly why the transmission has no reverse and park. If I can fix it cheap enough I'll just turn it for a few bucks locally. If not, it does have good sheet metal on the front and the ever so much in demand bucket seats and electronic speedo. Heck it even has a second electronic cluster in the back seat for some reason. I'll have to hook it up and see if it works. Guess he didn't know those are basically a Benjamin. Oh, I got 11.9 MPG on the trip to the truck and then got 11.8 MPG on the trip home loaded. Guess that 8.1 liter really don't care if it has a load or not. No wonder it has a 36 gallon tank.
