tv cable bracket.
what can i get a bracket off of for a 700r4 to a edelbrock 1406? i know bowtie overdrives sells a kit, but i already have the cable, i just need the bracket. i was hoping to find one in the local scrap yards if possible. basically what i am asking is what vehicle would have a bracket that would work for my application?

If you find out, let me know also. What are you using for the cable. I went out to the Bowtie Overdrives site, but did not see the kit. Do you have a part number?

I got my bracket off a carburated smallblock that just had bracket that the bolts that attach the intake to head run through. It has a square hole with a little bump on one side. Theres tons of them out there - I've seen many since & they're all the same - just get one with the square hole that will fit your cable & away you go. I'm running a q-jet/700r4 so I cant say exactly what will happen on the carb end BUT i know my bracket works.

I'd recommend spending the extra $$$ on the Bowtie bracket/cable. I had orginally installed a Lokar bracket/cable and the trans shifted like $hit (I also have the Edelbrock). I bought the Bowtie kit and it was like night and day. The problem is that the linkage on the Edelbrock doesn't have enough "throw" to completely move the TV through it's full range. (I personally verified this) Their kit corrects that problem and even allows you to adjust how aggressive you want it to shift. Just my $0.02.

Thanks for the link. I had already gone out and ordered it this morning, since my earlier request for information. I went back out to the Bowtie site, and found out that they have more than one home page. I just needed to go to the 700r4 page. Thanks for the help.

When you get the kit, follow the instructions. It'll tell you to take pressure readings in various senarios. You then call them up with the results and they can tell you if everything is working properly. I think you'll be pleased with the kit.

i think i am going to get the bowtie overdrive kit. it looks well engineered and the information they give about why you should use theirs really makes since.

I am still a week or so from getting that far, but hope to get things back together real soon. It has been so long that I have forgotten how some things go back together; that is going to slow me down some. I relly would like to get it running before I have to go TDY again.
