Top Banana sheet metal

I just wanted to post and see if anyone else has ordered anything from them??

I ordered 16 pieces the other day, all were in stock, was shipped to my door in 4 days. Packed very very(UPS couldn't even tear up the parts)

As for the pieces themselves- I am pleased with the thickness of the metal-pretty close to original. Now I have not started fitting them, but so far I am pleased.

Pieces purchased:

Lower frt fender rear section Lt and Rt
Frt cab mounts Lt and Rt
Rear cab mounts Lt and Rt
Rockers Lt and Rt
Lower outside door skin Lt and Rt
Front lower 1/4 LT and Rt
Rear Arch Lt and Rt
Lower Rear 1/4s Lt and Rt

As with anyone, have to make 'Burb 1/4s from 3 pieces from long and short fleetside. Will post a couple pics later of how those fit together.

From what I have experienced, I'd recommend them as far as service goes.

Just throwng out my 2 cents worth........

Have a great week, everyone

Thumbs up Re: Top Banana sheet metal

Thats good to know.

I was just asking about TB ... as I too am working on a rusty 'burb.

I'm starting with the front, and working my way to the back.

I have a longbed that will give up sheetmetal for LS quarter.

Re: Top Banana sheet metal

Well, IF I understood correctly from what I've read... I am using the front section from a longbed the arch and rear section for a short bed. Hopefully I got it right! LOL!

The parts are stamped "Key Auto Parts" but have not seen a country stamping or lable yet. I know there will be some trimming and coertion involved for fit, but the best part was that everything I ordered, with shipping was on $360, So we'll see if saving money costs me in the end.

Got customer work today, so won't get to mine til this evening. will update in my build thread, too.

Re: Top Banana sheet metal

email it just got back from classic parts:
Part number 14-053A is a bedside that is made here in the states. As for the gauge, it does not give me that information. They are going to be like original. We do not normally stock these, so once you place an order, it will be about 3-4 weeks before we will receive them, then once in stock, it will take about 1-2 weeks for you to receive them from us. If you need anything further, please let us know.

Thanks,

Alex

Re: Top Banana sheet metal

I've ordered cab corners and cab supports from them. The cab corners fit about as good as you'd expect from a repo part - not perfect but no serious reshaping needed to be done. The cab supports on the other hand did not work out so well. I had to cut it in the middle and weld in a couple pie shaped pieces because the curve of the support didn't match the curve in the cab floor. For the prices, they can't be beat. I've ordered stuff from LMC and Classic Parts as well; from my experience there's no difference in quality between the three.

Re: Top Banana sheet metal

ask around about the quality and fitment:

Review Board
here on the 67-72 page

Vendor Marketplace
here on the 67-72 page.

Top Banana is listed as a Gold Vendor for the site, and there is a discount code for all board members in there.

Re: Top Banana sheet metal

I was very pleased with Top Banana.
I originally bought some cab corners from a local guy - Dan's Classic Auto Parts, here in Portland. One was Tri-Plus, and one was Counterpart. The CounterPart brand was obviously inferior in thickness and shape.
I read up in these forums and found that many members prefer the TriPlus brand.
I also read a post by Top Banana that they only carry TriPlus.
I ordered all the rest of my patch panel needs from Top Banana.
I would recommend them.

Re: Top Banana sheet metal

I have also had good experiences with Top Banana. The KeyParts/TriPlus brand of parts are made overseas, and are about as good as you are going to get in import patch panels.

There is an ebay seller (ammuscle) that sells stamped in USA patch panels, but they are more money and not as many pieces offered. I have bought 1 front fender back half from him, but have not installed it yet. From what I have seen and felt, it seems to be of good quality.

So why haven't I heard of them before I bought $600 worth from LMC? I haven't heard mention of them before this thread.

I found who most in these forums were using by using the simple Google search at the top of these forums. Choose to search only this site.
I typed two words; best patch

I then read through the threads that were found using this method.

I found out early on that LMC is usually more expensive on most items.

except on 64-66 4 x 4 frt spring shackle kits, they were about $55.00 lower a side than most others. couldn't figure it out; thjey looked good once they got here. they sort of gouge one on the frt though. they want $ 65.00 to mail them to me when it should have been perhaps 15-20.00. got them to UPS then to blaine,wa for 18.00 and the another 18.00 to get it over the border to here. I cannot figure how they are so much less on that item though

I need to get rockers for my '65 Burb and I read somewhere that the ones out there tend to be on the short side. Are these from TB a good fit? Or, what source have been good?

I will test fit one later today and let you know.
Have always had good luck with the "slip on" rockers. I know what you mean, have experienced short rockers before, also.

Re: Top Banana sheet metal

Patch panels are one thing. Full panels from triplus were horrible. Outer and inner fenders. Cant even use them without cutting them up and rewelding or even stretching the length of the fender.

Sorry for the delay in replying, been busy on customer stuff all week. I didn't snap a pic, but held up the rocker panel, and I'd say it's a good length.
I purchased the "slip on" type, because of how I intend to use it. I am adding it to the bottom of the door, for a more updated look, like the new Chev trucks(no exposed rocker panel)

Re: Top Banana sheet metal

Thanks for the info, Tin Can. Does Top Banana have a website or catalog?

Also, someone please school me on the "slip on" type. This implies to me that you put them over the existing rockers. If so, do you cut out the rusty parts and glue them down or what?
