Difference in steering columns from '78 to '79
Are there any differences in the steering columns from '78 to '79? Reason I ask is I want to put an Ididit steering column in my pickup and it is an '82, and their site says that the steering column is for '73-'78. I'm not aware of any changes, but any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Difference in steering columns from '78 to '79
The earlier columns have a splined shaft at the lower end where they join to the intermediate shaft. While the later columns have a double-D shaft at that location. I'm not sure exactly what year they made the change but I belive it was sometime right around 79 or 80.
I believe you can use either style of column so long as you also use the matching style of intermediate shaft. |
