1965 Restore first time

Just picked up a 65 short bed. We are wanting to do a restoration on it. After sand blasting the frame, would the next best step be to complete the rebuild on the suspension and brakes? It has the stock drums and I would like to replace the brakes with the 4 wheel disc brakes and lower the truck 2" front and back. Any help is greatly appreciated.

It's the Rules that you must post pics of your truck before anyone can answer your question. ;-)
...Just kidding...

Re: 1965 Restore first time

I have two words that will help you: Build threads. Check out what others have done and learn from their mistakes and successes. There is a high likelihood someone has already done exactly what you want to do and took pictures along the way. Use the search feature for specific things, but just browsing will show you tons. Enjoy.

Re: 1965 Restore first time

Welcome to the forum, you will find that everyone here is more than happy to help with any questions you have. I echo the "check out build threads" comment from oem4me. Great to see that you are diving in, but I highly recommend that you do a lot of research here on each phase of your build before jumping in. There are many ways to lower these trucks, and add disc brakes. Look at the FAQ area, and watch the 60-66 board daily as people are always posting up questions.

To post pictures (which is a pseudo rule, kind of like a code to follow to keep us happy), scroll down to manage attachments when you are posting a reply.

Good luck, and welcome!!

That link is a review of the book, it will give you and idea of breaking things down, etc..
