The 8-lug pattern was standardized between all truck brands (6.5" pattern) until good ole Ford decided to mess things up by going to 170mm in '96 or so. A few years ago GM followed suite and I'm pretty sure Dodge did,too. One day an engineering whiz wakes up and decides to change what's been a standard for decades (like ever since the 8-lug pattern came out!) just for the sake of change,with no benefit or improvement resulting what so ever.
