identify 3/4 springs 67-72
I think my 69 C20 has the stiffest springs possible. Unloaded, the back end is super stiff- and since I won't be hauling loaded most of the time, I would like to soften the ride some. PO told me he had loaded it down with rock and it barely sat down- even without inflating the airbags installed on the rear. I have searched the forum, and read that there were 2000lb or HD 3000 springs. Nothing left with the truck to help identify what options it has. How can I identify 3/4 rear coil springs, so I can determine which I have, and also if I do have the HD version- so I can identify the softer version.

Re: identify 3/4 springs 67-72
Sorry we have not been more help. It is difficult to visually determine what springs are what, but there are tests you can do to determine what rate they are. I am not smart enough to tell you the math involved because it has to do with adding weight in the rear of the vehicle until it moves a certain distance, the leverage of the arm that the spring is on and the Chinese yen. If you search spring rate calculations I am sure you can find something.
Again, sorry, I wish I could be of more help.

Re: identify 3/4 springs 67-72
Thanks anyway. I figured maybe there was a difference in thickness of the steel- coil height and diameter would be the same, but something is different and maybe no way to tell without an actual test. These air shocks probably aren't helping matters either, so I am gonna replace those with some new regular shocks.

sens-a-trac shocks are a real popular here, I have a set and really like them. you can pick them up for a very reasonable price as well.
