Best Way to Finish Back Panel

Bucket seat install...Wondering what is the best way to finish the back panel behind the seats..Wood and fabric, carpet?? What did the factory use?
Pictures would be awesome.

Re: Best Way to Finish Back Panel

Bed liner would give a cheap/different look.
Carpet would be cheap and look good.

Maybe get some fake leather to a thin piece of wood and mount that?

Re: Best Way to Finish Back Panel

hmmm well depends on what you want then..>Carpet would work but if you want a sub systerm you could build a nice box with amp rack..... Pioneer makes some nice shallow mount subs that will allow for a box of perfect dimensions for the width.

I actually grabbed the Pioneer box with mine and its only 4" on the bottom

Re: Best Way to Finish Back Panel

The factory bucket seat trucks had carpet that went up the back wall. Take a look at Jeff's truck. The way he did his looks fabulous.

Re: Best Way to Finish Back Panel

They didn't have the black cardboard on bucket seat trucks. It was carpet. I guess it would depend if you want it to look stock or not

Re: Best Way to Finish Back Panel

The 50 lbs is probably the box and all the packing stuff too. Some plastics are heavy so who knows what type its made from and its weight.

Re: Best Way to Finish Back Panel

I am sure they are charging dimensional weight. Basically for that size box they charge as if it were 50 pounds

How did you get the carpet to stick? Contact cement? I bought that piece from AAC just like you did and I just used 3M adhesive. Probably where I went wrong. Now I gotta get all that glue off somehow and then come up with another way to make it stay up this time. I got dynamat behind the carpet too.

Re: Best Way to Finish Back Panel

I'm thinking of using an acoustical wall panel material wrapped with a fabric..It's sort of like a ceiling tile, but it absorbs sound like crazy..We install them in movie theaters and noisey places that have a lot of hard surfaces..I have no headliner yet so it still sounds tinny even wth the insulation and massbacked carpet.

I used industrial strength velcro just like they use on carpet bedliners (which is where I got the idea since I installed one in my 2008 silverado). I bought a roll at home depot that was like 2" wide and cut into strips of whatever I needed to fit. You just stick it too the metal with both pieces of velcro attached, then peel paper backing off carpet side and press in to fit. It worked great and has held contour for months.

heres a bedliner but I used long strips
