What is this hole for?

I am starting a 53 chevy pickup project.
This is from the lower door hinge.
I made this replacement with the slot that
registers the tab from the hinge bracket.
Does anyone know what the hole was for?
Thanks

Factory power window harness? just kidding. Mabey something in tooling to hold or stamp the piece first and then it was still there at final assembly?
