Seafoam in brake booster hose?

Is the brake booster hose really the best place to pour in the seafoam? Wasn't sure if that would guarantee even distribution of the chemical. Maybe I'm thinking about it wrong. I'm thinking the the throttle body (TBI 5.7L) would be better. You know, pour it a little at each time down each side? Thoughts?

Re: Seafoam in brake booster hose?

Yea, if you plan to change the spark plugs afterwards. Otherwise, pour it in a full tank of gas. Using the vacuum hose or TB is the extreme version if you need to try can clean carbon deposits.

Re: Seafoam in brake booster hose?

If your truck is FI, pour it in a full tank of gas. Use TB cleaner to clean the upper parts.
What is your primary reason for using it?

Just to clean things up and help it run better. I've heard of people having great results with it. Improved mileage, some restored engine performance, smoother running engine, etc. Lots of people seem to think its helped them.

So the putting it in the gas tank is just as good as pouring it in the brake booster hose? On the bottle it says to do both. I guess I can see how it ends up in the same place. But then why would they tell you to use that method. Some people even put it in the oil and drive a few miles then change the oil.

Re: Seafoam in brake booster hose?

Seafoam is good to use at all of those places. In the tank cleans mostly the fuel system with a very minor clean to the combustion chambers. Into a vacuum hose is much more direct on the combustion chambers and is good if you've got a lot of soot buildup. Into the crankcase will clean a lot of the sludge buildup from the crankcase, lifter valleys, heads, etc. It all depends on where you're trying to clean.

Re: Seafoam in brake booster hose?

Been reading and others don't seem to think it will foul the spark plugs. Just that some people who did it wrong have done that.

Re: Seafoam in brake booster hose?

I've used it. In both occasions I poured it *S-L-O-W-L-Y* into the throttle body.

Worked fine...I guess. Noticed a little bit of a difference. The smoke show was fun. Reminded me of Uncle Buck.

Re: Seafoam in brake booster hose?

Love Seafoam. Poor a can into a 1/4 of a tank every month. Run it for a few days then fill up the tank. Seems to run better within the week.

Yes because sea foam can only clean what it touches. The mopar stuff foams up when the engine shuts off and fills the cylinders with foam and the intake so it cleans stick carbon throughout the cyl chamber and the top of the intake runners where carbon commonly sticks.

Also look do a/c delco carburator conditioner. It's spray seafoam and great at keeping your carb venturis and engine clean

I'll have to say that the stuff made an incredible difference in my old 91 bmw...I'll definitely be using on the truck when i get the time to do some real maintenance.

Re: Seafoam in brake booster hose?

So anyway, would the brake booster hose give you even distribution of the seafoam? Seems like it would kinda benefit the back two cylinders the most. Unless I'm doing it wrong. And by doing it I mean thinking about it.

Re: Seafoam in brake booster hose?

I saw a video today that said you only need to pour it in the booster hose if you have fuel injection. It said for a carb or TBI pour it into the carb or TBI. Just my $.02

Re: Seafoam in brake booster hose?

No it's not going to distribute evenly. The back four are going to sick it up period. Get spray seafoam and spray the throttle body.

Re: Seafoam in brake booster hose?

Only thing is you have to just sit there and keep spraying it. The can is cooler cause you just dump it in.
