1956 3100 fender Emblem location
I am doing some work on my friends 1956 3100. He bought all new emblems and driver side mirror. I got the hood emblem and mirror installed today as I was able to find the holes under the bondo and get them installed.
The fender emblems however do not line up. Can any one give me a dimension off of door line and fender contour line to place these? I robed a picture off Google of the type of emblem that is going on. it is the same as this one except it is black.

I still have the holes in my fender I will measure tomorrow from door edge to first hole. Then give distance between holes.

Re: 1956 3100 fender Emblem location
Thanks butchp.
I noticed that the pictures in LMC shows these emblems below the fender line. Which one is correct for 1956, above or below the fender line?

Re: 1956 3100 fender Emblem location
Thanks flames97, that would have sucked to put them in the wrong location.
It looks like I can get the chevrolet portion of the emblem on as it is located in the wheel well were it is only one layer of sheet metal. The 3100 portion of the emblem lands where it is double layered. Do I need to pull the fenders to install these? please say no.

Re: 1956 3100 fender Emblem location
That I don't know. I have a 55. My truck is all torn apart. I'm sure someone here will have the answer. I know where there is a 56 and if I'm around there in the next couple of days I'll look. But I'm sure some one will chime in by then. Hope you don't have to pull the fender though.

Re: 1956 3100 fender Emblem location
Thanks! How do you get to the back side of the emblems where the fender overlaps the cab?
I mesured the three holes I can see through the bondo. They are at 6-1/2" then 17" then 27-1/2" from the door line and they are 2" on center up from the fender line. I wonder if these fenders had the different style emblems originaly. I think this becaouse the emblem set up I have now will need four holes, two to hold on the chevrolet script and two to hold on the 3100 portion. Butchp, Do you want the color code for the maroon 1956 or the code for my garnet red 1970?

Re: 1956 3100 fender Emblem location
The trim is three and one eight inch from the back edge to the trim peak. You may have to loosen the fender bolts to access the rear trim bolt, as it is caked with road tar, rust ect. to force it loose it may cause the bolt to snap or unscrew from the trim. Use lots of WD-40 or other nut buster first. There are 4 holes for the 56.
