noisy front brakes
At low speeds with light pressure on pedal , my brakes are very noisy. The dealer says it`s common , but my tire guy says eventhough he can`t see anything wrong it doesn`t sound right. Anybody out there have this problem?

Re: noisy front brakes
It seems to be a 07-12 GM 1/2 ton. That`s what this thread covers.

Re: noisy front brakes
My truck is a 2009 silverado 2wd 1/2 ton. I thought being under the 07 + thread I could go without saying.

Re: noisy front brakes
The front brakes on my 2011 chev 2500 have had a squeal at low speed ever since it was brand new and I have over 20,000 miles now. I had hoped it would quit but it hasn't.
Anyone else have this problem? John

And to answer your question, every disc brake vehicle I've ever driven has that low speed/light brake squeal. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: noisy front brakes
might want to lube the caliper pins and anti squeal anchor with dielectric grease ,check the pads see if there glazed or if need to chamfer the edges ,check run out of the rotor ,if its more than .003 then its no good needs rotor ,my guess its lack of lube on pins and caliper anchors were the pads rest on the spindle.sometimes if you ride the brakes when you first take off ,will take out the low pitch squeal ,just sayin'

Re: noisy front brakes
Thought my avitar would show what I had. After taking it to dealer (under warrenty) found that squeal is due to metallic pads.

Re: noisy front brakes
I had the same problem with the rear on my '12, made a grinding noise. I took it to the dealer, thinking it was dirt in the drums from when I was in saskatchewan, but it turned out there was metal flakes in the brakes from factory. Covered under warranty, but sounds like GM might want to rethink there supplier.

Re: noisy front brakes
Here the guy is asking a question about brakes and you guys are giving him "breaks" about what truck it is. Unless it is a Fodge or a dord, then I would not worry about it. I kind of assumed that he had a late model, but then I could be wrong.
Oh, by the way, my 2011 GMC SWB, standard cab, 2WD, 5.3, 6 speed, and lowered truck with 20 inch rims makes no noise unless I am on slick stuff and the antilock feature is initiated. I used that this morning on the snow and ice we had in Kansas. The V4 function really makes a difference in moving down the highway on ice. Hope you take this for how it is meant, LOL.
