is this bracket needed for anything?

after fitting motor in truck this bracket is really colse to firewall.

cant see where it reall does anything, does it need to stay?

I asked the tech at the dealership when I was doing mine. He said it was a guard to keep the fuel rail from hitting the fire wall in a front end collision to reduce the chance of fuel spraying all over the place.

hmmm given my past history with front end crashes, maybe its not so much in the way. i think it can stay there.

and yes the pavement is still scorched there, i get to thank the lord twice a day when i pass that spot on the way to work and on the way home that he let me live that day.

Heck man, I don't think that bracket will help if you flip the truck over and light it on fire

Glad your ok tho, I imagine the 15-20 seconds leading up to that was not enjoyable.

yes bracket may not help, but it cant hurt, but the good lord and a guardian angel really come in handy.

and yes when burning plastic is dripping down from the fire on top of the truck, it got real exciting quickly.

Yeah, maybe you ought to paint a cross on that bracket and leave it there for good luck.
