My Dad's truck back in the day
My dad heard about it from a friend who bought it new then caved in the front corner on a tree a couple weeks later. He was able to buy it for $500. The insurance called it a total. I remember him hooking a chain to the frame and a tree, a little momentum and then-BAM! We retook all the measurements and he got it nearly if not perfectly re-aligned. Fender and some other pieces were from Chevy dealer I think . Hood was from a friend and we took the letters off and repainted the whole truck dark brown which, incidentally, is a very pretty color when done right. Too bad we don't see more of it. This pic reminds me of the movie, "No Country For Old Men." That truck got sold a long time ago but he did give me a bad custom 66 327 4 on the floor that I love.

Re: My Dad's truck back in the day
My dad said that back in about 69 or 70 he bought a white 68 SWB CST with red interior that a coworker had rolled over on it's top after taking a corner too fast. Dad said the guy didn't have insurance and bought it for $300 (!) He said he looked for a cab for about a month and ouldnt find one as it was so new, so he found a truck that was side swiped, had the wrecking yard cut the top off and brazed it on the 68 with a oxy acetylene torch (!) painted the top and traded it in on a dark green 72 Custom 10 lwb.

That's awesome. I wonder how much harder they had it back then without a board that has a collective knowledge to solve almost anything.
