Short bed restore question
Can a steel floor bed be changed over to wood?
Has anyone here changed the steel floor on a short bed truck? Is it difficult or worth doing? Is replacement metal as tuff as original? |

Re: Short bed restore question
Yes you can. I am doing mine with parts from Mark-k out of Oklahoma City, they make there own parts, real good stuff imo. It isn't to hard to do, they give you good instructions.

Re: Short bed restore question
Here is a link to the Mar-K site - http://www.mar-k.com/Catalog/catalog.aspx
For a shortbed, you will need New front panel Cross sills x 3 Rear Cross Sill x 1 Reinforcement Strip x 1 Bed wood - your choice (do it yourself, or in kit form) bed strips - many choices here They also sell a set of conversion instructions to go from steel to wood bed.

Re: Short bed restore question
The wood beds have worked great for many years. I use mine a good bit and still hear alot of compliments. I like that its dense and has a little "give".
Oh, and +1 on the Mar-k parts. Top notch. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Short bed restore question
Then you have to worry about getting them split or so when you try and haul things

Re: Short bed restore question
One of our members made a removeable wood floor for his steel floored bed. It dropped in and looked great. Probably find it with a little search on wooden beds. It's been a few years.

Re: Short bed restore question
I am not the guy to ask... as I would never have a "show truck". When I go to car shows... for some reason people park reall nice and shiny rigs around my old heap.
![]() All the wood beds that came original in these trucks were painted the same color as the body. Gary
