HEI with Generator
I am running a 283 with standard distributor right now. I was given an HEI distributor to install. My question is, when I install the HEI should I convert the generator over to alternator? I have heard that the generator will not keep up the volts for the HEI.

Re: HEI with Generator
The HEI will work fine with the gen. If you are going to use the truck a lot & have added electric equipmwnt if would be preferable to change to alt.

Re: HEI with Generator
Thank you for the info. I do not plan on a lot of electrical stuff but will keep the info in mind if I do.

Re: HEI with Generator
Just be sure and get a full 12 volts direct from fuse box....keyed.....not the old coil wire

Re: HEI with Generator
I ran my '62 for years with generator/HEI with no problems. The generator light didn't come on any more often than before.
