A question for a drag truck guru
Hey guys,
I've got a 68' Gmc long bed, I've got a 5.3 bored to a 5.7 with around 400hp, it's Hooked up to a 700r4 with a stage 2 shift kit and stock torque converter. It has leaf springs in the back, and I'd really like for it to transfer the weight and hook up pretty good when I floor it. The rear end is stock, and it does have a 2 piece driveshaft. I plan on changing the rear end to a 3:55 locker (I think the rear end stock is 3:08?). My main question is, what could I do to the suspension to make my goal? Preferably a lower cost range. If there's other suggestions you have that don't include the suspension (that won't destroy my mpg too bad!) let me know! Always open to ideas. Thanks guys. -Bruton Posted via Mobile Device

They now make cal-tracs for our trucks, and work really good you can adjust pinion angle with the set up. Battery relocation helps. 70/30 shocks on the rear. install shocks on the fromt made by monroe that have springs installed over the shock. cheap coil over design. 3:55 gears will not get it. you need 3:73 to 4:10gears the two piece driveshaft is stronger than a one piece so leave it alone. stock converter will not work niether get at the least 3500 stall. I currently running a 70 1/2 ton with a 4200 stall th350 4:10 gears wedge plates in the rear (coil spring) 70/30 rear shocks and monroe fronts with springs. 106LSA 310 duration chet herbert cam. SBC chevy 350. she clips the traps at 7000RPM @108MPH knocking down 12.35 hope this helps. |
