On a few threads members have stated their truck has Taylor Ignition Wires I am in the market for a new wire set for my truck so I looked up the price of them and wow !! Summitt is asking 175.00 for them. What makes them so expensive and does anyone have a pic of a set installed on their BB?

last set i used from taylor where spiropro 8mm cost was around 60 from speedway motors they were well worth the money for ease of install and longlife

Yes there was a set for 74.95 and another for 174.95 and I always try to buy the best for my truck.

Go to a local parts store. Taylor wires are great wires, and there are lots of sets out there for 60 bucks or so. If you're looking at the "pre-made" sets, those are probably the more expensive wires.

Get a "cut to fit" set, and it'll save you some cash, plus you can make them as long or short as you want them.

I have MSD 8.5mm wires on my truck $59 bucks from Summit and they work great. I used to buy Taylor wires as well and never had a problem with them either.
Cut to fit takes some time but I never had good luck with the ones that where spose to fit always seem to long or to short.

i use the cut to fit taylor sprio core wires on all my vehicles have always worked great. I think I paid $60 for them.

I was using Accel wires on my 454 and was sick of the yellow..Just purchased a set of taylor 73053 and they seem to be a better quality wire..plus no more yellow

I use the MSD wires as well.

I would say Taylor or MSD are the best wires you can get.

I've had taylors on my Silverado and S10. Great wires. Find the part # you want and put it into google with "price" or something similar and it will search out prices from different places.

I use alot of Taylor wires in the shop. 8.5mm are great but I've never had any luck with the 10.4mm 409 wires. Cut to fit is THE only way to buy plug wires.

Thanks for all the replies. I always thought a pre-made set would be the route to go. I have an MSD Street Fire Distributor in my truck so I think I'll try a set of MSD wires and get the cut to fit set. I see some are 8.00 mm thick and some are 8.5 mm thick, anyone know why they make 2 thicknesses so close together?

I am using the same Taylor wires that my buddy had on his camaro at least 3 years ago. He then sold me the dist and wires I have been running them for 2 years on 2 different trucks. Dang near melted a few of them and the wires are still holding up...real impressed!

I have Taylor Spiro Pros on my 385 stroker and the prices are not much different than when I purchased them a long time ago. The prices, even at Summit, is still around $70.00. A set of MSD 8 MM for my 91 truck cost me a little more, but no where close to the $175.00 range. A good set of low resistance spark plug wires is worth the money for hp in an engine. Every bit adds up.
