4wd rear end in a 2wd blazer?

how much is involved in putting a 4x4 blazer rear end in my 2wd blazer, is it just a matter of switching the axles? or is there more?

No difference I can think of. What kind of swap are you looking at?

Re: 4wd rear end in a 2wd blazer?

the rear end in my 1980 2wd pinion shaft is really loose. and i have a 1980 4x4 blazer parts truck with a 3.73 that seems to be a lot tighter.

Re: 4wd rear end in a 2wd blazer?

It's pretty easy to pull the axles out of the housing to swap them over to keep 5-lug but I'm not sure if the spline count is the same.

Install the new rearend with your 5-lug 2wd axles, and you will be good to go.

I had to look it up, both 30-spline axles.
