How can I drop the rear of my truck 3 more inches?
Right now I have 2" of drop on the rear with drop shackles. I plan on buying 2.5" drop spindles for the front and I would like 5 inches of drop on the rear for a 2.5/5 drop. Is there any way that I can achieve 3 more inches of drop without a flip kit? If I do have to use a flip kit, I believe I would need to go back to stock shackles or the rear would be much too low. Am I going to need to c-notch with only 5 inches of drop on the rear? I would really like to go for a 5/7 drop but the truck is my daily driver and 2.5/5 or 3/5 seems more reasonable for a DD truck to me.

i beleive you can get get 2 inches by moving the front spring hanger up. you will have to drill new holes though. my 86 has a flip kit with 2" drop shackles and even with the bed empty and the bump stops removed, it will bottom out every now and then

Re: How can I drop the rear of my truck 3 more inches?
If you have the shorter leaf springs, you should be able to do a flip kit without a c-notch. However you will need to remove the bump stop and bracket riveted to the frame. If you have the longer leafs, then you will need a c-notch. If you choose not to flip then get a lowered hanger. This will drop you another 2". You will need to remove the old one by cutting out the rivets, which is a pain. Then if still not low enough, remove 1 leaf. That will drop you down and soften the ride. If it were my truck, Id just flip it and be done with it..

Re: How can I drop the rear of my truck 3 more inches?
You can get 4" of drop, by doing the new hanger brackets in the front of the rear springs and using the longer shackles on the rear of the springs. I and my son both have 3" drop spindles on our trucks and the rears are dropped 4" in the rear, using Belltech components. You will have to notch the bed support rails on the rear of the springs, but that is easy. If you want a little more, then you could have a spring shop reform your springs 1 inch lower. However you will be close to your frame and then the C notch kit is needed. Why do you NOT want to do a 'C' notch? I had one on my 91 Silverado and it was very sturdy and it worked well. There are some that can be installed wihout taking the bed off of the truck.

Re: How can I drop the rear of my truck 3 more inches?
Well, after doing some research and reading the posts here I am going to be going with 3 inch drop spindles on the front and a flip kit on the rear with a c-notch. Is there any particular brand that I should get? Should I buy it as a kit, or all the parts separately?

I like either Western Chassis or Belltech flip kits and c-notches.

Re: How can I drop the rear of my truck 3 more inches?
Flip kit installed! Didn't have to do a c-notch. I did remove the bumpstops, though.
I'll upload some more pictures here tomorrow when I install my spindles. It seems that after putting the stock shackles on and doing this flip kit I've got a bigger drop than 5 inches... Looks to be more like 7 maybe. I might have to buy some Drop coils for the front as well. I hope it doesn't make my ride quality too bad on the front end.

You could have done the shackles hangers and remove a leaf to get to 5. But looks great with the flip!

Re: How can I drop the rear of my truck 3 more inches?
I have 2 in. Shackles and 2 in. Hangers. I needed more and didn't want to notch the bed so I had the springs de-arched 2 inches. Perfect.
