Fuel pump/ leak
I went for a long drive yesterday and the truck ran great. Really nice to get it out of the garage!! Warm day with no rain!
When I got back I opened the hood and was checking around and noticed the area below and around my fuel pump was wet. The fuel pump itself had a little clear to brownish liquid in the ring around the top. Likely a little oil mixing in. The "wet" below the pump appears clear for the most part (not oil) and pretty much has to be gas. It looks like it's being pushed out as I'm running down the road. Starting the truck and letting it idle I don't see a leak. I don't know a lot about fuel pumps but can replace if needed. Anyone know if the pump going bad would do this or is it a hose issue? Picture is attached. Thanks!

Re: Fuel pump/ leak
It looks like you have a bolt in that hole from the link.

Re: Fuel pump/ leak
Yeah, it looked that way to me too. I'm checking in a little while.

Re: Fuel pump/ leak
It is possible for the diapham inside the pump to fail and leak oil/gas out of the vent hole. I would clean it real good around the area and take it for another drive and see if you can pin point it. Another thing is you may be able to make it leak by giving it some revs while running. Sometimes they wont leak at an idle.
Make sure all the lines and clamps are tight also. |

Re: Fuel pump/ leak
Good suggestions everyone. I'm going to work on it this weekend.
Might be a good excuse to purchase a "chrome" fuel pump to bolt on (I like shiny parts ). I see them on ebay in the 35-40 dollar range. Any opinions here on a brand or vender?
