quadrajet acc pump ?s

I got a cheap rebuild kit from autozone and rebuild my carburetor because I had a hesitation barely into the throttle so rebuilt it now it has a dead miss immediately when you touch the pedal so I noticed looking into the carb no fuel at first then two streams a you move the throttle looking at the top of pump stem after operating pump it takes almost 20 seconds for the plunger to rise all the way up and there was what looked like another cup for the plunger did I do something wrong should I have used the other cup any help would be appreciated. Attached a couple of pics.

If it is taking that long for the plunger to come back up then I suspect that the larger spring under the plunger got left out or if you didn't put the new seal on the plunger maybe the old one is sticking now.

The photo shows what you should have. There is also a spring around the plunger that needs to be in place.

The tall spring on the right in the photo goes above the assembly.

When the float bowl is full of fuel, you should have an instant squirt of fuel when the plunger rod is pushed down. There should not be any gaps between the plunger rod and the linkage.

If you have ethanol in the fuel it will ruin the accelerator pump over night. Most DIY auto parts stores kits do not (even NAPA's) have ethanol resistant rubber.

You kit came with 2 cups? What did your original accelerator pump look like?
That cup you show does not take a spring inside the cup to spread the lip.

Per Cliff's studies, even the blue cups coming in kits swell with ethanol.
I've got the same problem with the QJ on the ranch truck. Plan on getting one of these.

You mean the tall spring goes below the plunger assembly to push it back up.

Ok I took the carb back off and compared the new cup that came on the new plunger to the old original and also the extra one and turns out that the extra one was the correct replacement so put it on and runs much better. This is a truck that I just got just over a week ago and I've ordered an HEI for it, I just tweaked the timing a little just now and helped a ton also but until the HEI is in it will do for now.
The truck is a 71 Cheyenne lwb with 68K miles, it has pdb, ps, a/c (that works) also got the original bill of sale, owners manual, build sheet, protecto-plate warranty card, sticker, checklist when it was received and options were checked off and the dealership brochure for 71 that coincidentally has my exact Cheyenne color and everything. This truck is original as it rolled of the showroom floor, I have the original wheels and hubcaps the only thing is the steering wheel has been changed out. It also had cap on it for most of its life and the bed is almost perfect. It does have some rust in the bottom of the doors and a little in the cab corners but all in all a great truck!

You are mighty generous sir but I will pass on the cap. You could have a party back there.

The color is called Ochre (paint code 511). It is actually one of those colors you either love or hate. I did not care for it at all when I got my 72 but now I love it and would not change it for anything.

I like your truck and the originality is priceless. Take care of it.
