Re: my battery keeps draining!

are you sure you are getting 14 volts to the battery?? did you do a load test on the battery?? just to make sure it is good? I wonder if the voltage regulator needs to be polarized???

What do you mean it drains?
What exactly is it doing to make you think it drains?

Something is drawing on the battery even while running that is not keeping it charged. The lights wont work. My air compressors sound like fish take airiators and as soon as I shut the truck off the battery is too dead to make a sound

Re: my battery keeps draining!

Eliminate all the extra power draws on your motor.
What compressors?
Could be to much draw on your charging system.

Got air ride. Worked fine last summer? I think I found a ground issue with my headlights I had the truck out for a ride tonight.

Can you tell me what you found? My truck drains the battery if I don't drive it for a day or two. I know the alternator is charging. After looking into it more, I discovered that the battery doesn't drain if I disconnect the baffle connector for the headlights that's near the voltage regulator. The good news is that it seems to be forward of the radiator support. The bad news is that I have to find it! Any info you can give me on what you found with yours would be great.

I had a faulty horn relay once that caused this. Dont remember exactly how the wiring is ran up front so not sure if this will help you

Thanks again. I don't want to hijack this thread, but I originally suspected the horn relay too. Totally removed it from the circuit and I still have a draw on the battery. The only way I can get it to go away is by disconnecting the headlight connector on the radiator support.

I believe mine is horn relay or a ground issue?

Thanks. I just let mine set for over 24 hours and the static battery voltage only dropped from 13.09 volts to 13 volts even. So, I'm not sure what to think now. I just swapped over to an internally regulated alternator so I'll see how that goes.

How is yours doing?

I disconnected horn relay and it was ok. I got a guy coming over with sometype of battery tester tomorrow he said that it would fine the problem.
