Driveshaft mistery

Bought a driveshaft off guy in town with same 84 c10 th350 (9" tail). brought it home got ready to pit it in and it like 1/2 inch too long. Whats going on here? my truck is still sitting on jack stands, so I was wondering if my rear end angle effects anything or what else could it be. Any input be helpfull.

Can I buy an shorter driveshaft yoke? Pulling my hair out lol

Re: Driveshaft mistery

if you have a long slip yoke you could switch to a shorter one.

Re: Driveshaft mistery

They used several different length yokes over the years. See if your yoke lengths are the same. Otherwise get your yoke, stick it in the trans tail shaft pull it out 3/4" and measure center of eye on the yoke to center of eye on the diff and that is the length driveshaft you need. Check eBay for used Nascar takeoffs. They are balanced to perfection!

Re: Driveshaft mistery

how's it jacked up? are the rear springs "loaded", compressed with the body weight of the truck? or is the suspension dangling, fully extended and therefore "unloaded"?

Re: Driveshaft mistery

Can any of you tell me what shortbed driveshaft length should be with turbo350( 9 inch tail) and ten bolt rear? My yoke is almost flush with tailhousing gasket and when I measure from ujoint to ujoint i get 57".
