New guy from the Netherlands
Hello All,
I'm Remon, 22 years old and living in the Midwest of Holland (it's only 124 miles wide and 186 miles high ). I'm an American car enthusiast from the moment I went of of my tricycle. Few months ago I bought my first American car, which is a '79 Chevy C20 truck. Dutchies are relatively pretty USA car minded so getting one and getting parts for it isn't that much of a problem. Actually... two weeks after I bought the beige one, I saw a beauty in Texas (online) and fell in love with it. So I bought the truck and shipped it to Holland. Anyway, suddenly I had two C20 camper specials on my driveway ;D. A beige '79 and a two tone blue '77. Right now the beige one is sold. The blue one is a Texas truck. No rust, just surface rust. Almost everything squeaks or doesn't work I drove it from the harbor 40 miles home and it runs, brakes, shifts very good. Pulls slightly to the right. Engine starts in one turn and reacts good. Plans with the car: - First: make the car ready for examination to get a licence - everything has to be good and working - Rust prevention! - Make everything additional work properly - Make interior nicer - new doorpanels and bringing back color on woodgrain dash. - Install LPG installation (gas prices in Holland: $9,30 a gallon!! and for LPG: $3.85) - Bedcoating - New hood. Have one allready, just needs paint - Electric fan - New cab rubbers Hope to get learn a lot on this forum and be a part of some conversations. Greets Remon Some more pics: Easy comparing In Texas.. I have the chrome wheels also but the tires are bad.. |

Re: New guy from the Netherlands
$9.30/gal is a awful kick in the shorts for sure, and we complain about $3.50/gal
My dad had a propane truck back when propane was about .75/gal and gas was $1.25/gal. with propane you sacrifice fuel efficiency for cost of fuel, propane doesnt give the same amount of power as gas but at the difference you have in price, it will be well worth it IMO. Good luck and welcome from Texas!

Re: New guy from the Netherlands
Welcome, Both of my grandparents on my Mom's side came to the US from The Netherlands. I live real close to a Dutch community here in Iowa. In fact they are getting ready for their annual "Tulip Time". By the way I bet people get out of your way on those Narrow roads over there!

Re: New guy from the Netherlands
Haha offcourse, Amsterdam
And you know what, I never did weed. Lots of dutchies never did though. Just because it's not exiting.. Legalisation is the way to go. It's a nice country, but very densely and we have a ****ty government. But I think every country has that in times likes these.. |

Re: New guy from the Netherlands
Yes, I totally agree. Here in the states we put sex and drugs on a very high pedestal, which is why we have problems with teen pregnancy and drugs/underage drinking. We didn't learn anything from Prohibition..
Hey, here's an idea...move to Texas! Plenty of room to grow weed, I mean trucks! Lol Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: New guy from the Netherlands
I wish I could move to Texas, but the possibilities to get into the US are very limited.
When I was 18 I went on my own to CA, AZ and NV for three months. I had the time of my life and hoped I could come back to live in the US. But after I did some research on the possibilities I discovered it was much harder then I expected.. Unfortunately Any suggestions? |

Re: New guy from the Netherlands
Yes, of course. There's always possibilities. You could:
Become an exchange student, tell them your becoming educated on the history of Chevrolet and everything Americana.. Defect- because your civil rights are being violated by the roads being to narrow. (?) Or just visit and never go back, lots of messicuns do it all the time...lol (Oh I'm Mexican btw) If they allow refugees from Middle East, I'm sure you can too. Have you ever been to MichiganStan ??? Lol Posted via Mobile Device |
