'71 SWB frame under a '65?
Hey guys, I am wondering- what would it take to bolt a 65 body onto a good 71 C10 2wd frame that I have? I redid the brakes and would like to utilize the suspension and running gear on my 65 and cut down the bed to make a 65 2wd shortbed, and instead of cutting the frame and bed and bolting all the suspension stuff to my 65 frame... would the body swap be easier? I also have some sweet centerline wheels for the 5x5 pattern. Thanks in advance for any and all help guys, I appreciate it and love the site.

I know the front frame is different from the steering box forward and the back cab mounts are wrong for a 60-66 truck. You would have to cut your frame and put on the '71 and put your rear cab mounts on it as well. There may be other small differences but those two are for sure different.

Core support mounts @ diff height & fore/aft location (close, but different).
Frame rails diff shape/height @ front bumper. Rear cab mounts higher for pre-67 cabs (spacer could be made to compensate). Some bed bolt holes are different.

Re: '71 SWB frame under a '65?
I am in the process of putting everything from a 71 under my 66; keeping original frame and bolting everything on...
check out my build thread/ elbow deep in my 66.... WAGZ
