Auxillary Battery. Option 1TP2

Anyone out there have the factory auxillary battery setup working in the Blazer or F.S. Truck. The option code is 1TP2.

I have a schematic in the back of my service manual. I have a relatively small gauge wire red, coming from a switch on the firewall. The wire from the switch goes to the starter.

I have the factory aux battery tray. I assume to hook it up I'd run a wire to ground and connect the red wire to battery positive.

I assume my alternator will charge both batteries. The aux battery can be used for winch(need $$'s) and trail lights.

I got a new bumper being built by Kennesaw Mountain Accessories with grill guard, brush guard and recessed Pro comps, so a winch is in my future.

Appreciate your comments and/or pics

Tim

I have the set-up.
Factory driver's side tray, Huge starting battery in it, 5 ft. section of new welding lead going + to +, a bent piece of 5/8th copper pipe (4" long) going from the battery - to the fender well, a Optima red-top in the passenger side tray.

Ze Pics,

This is the factory passenger side batt; You can see the welding cable coming in just under the edge of the Felpro sticker and going to the side post + lug on the Optima ,

And now we see the driver's side batt.
The ground post is connected to the fender well with a piece of copper pipe painted black. The positive welding cable is going to the front through a factory hole in the rad. support,

I'll try to borrow a buddy's digital camera this morning and post pics of my setup. I did take a look after I saw your pics and I do have the hole on the drivers side but I don't see a hole on the passenger side for the positive cable.

Thanks for the pics, Tim

Your welcome on the pics!

I had to make that other hole on the passenger side rad. support for the cable to go through.
This is similar to how General did it on or trucks (no switch,no diodes) and I would have thought there was a hole over there but no.
