Replacing body mounts - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

The body mounts on my '67 GMC are old, cracked, hard, and no doubt in need of replacement. I found the pdf of an article detailing replacement on this wonderful message board here.

Questions: has anyone done this per the article (truck on jack stands, lifting one side of the chassis and replacing them then the other side of the chassis), and where should I get the kit (rubber or polyurethane)?

There are a few posts about this. I did mine while on the ground....it sits high enough. I undid the bolts, lifted the truck carefully and installed the bushings. I used poly for mine and it rides SO much better. Fewer creaks, groans, clicks and so on. The toughest ones for me were the front cab mounts because the spacers were frozen to the bolt.

Yeah, I kinda wondered if I could do it without putting the truck up on jack stands.

Barring a problem like spacers being frozen to a bolt, about how long does the job take (assuming I have all the parts and tools at hand)?

Where is the best place to buy bushings ?

I believe I ordered mine from classic industries. Came with bushings and all the hardware.

Poly works great, Travis at properformance has prior game brand and very reasonable

I like the rubber and will ride better than the poly, more forgiving. GMC Paul's sells a kit for the mounts. Don't forget the ones under the radiator as well. Will ride like a new truck with the new mounts.

Took about 2hrs.85% of that time was cutting the frozen front bolts out. I did my by loosing on side of the cab at a time and replacing one mount at a time. I went with the rubber kit from bowtie bits.com. if yours is a 67 you won't have radiator mount. Not bad at all

Thanks to all for the replies! I think I'll go with the rubber mounts and also start the week before by spraying Kroil on all the bolts/nuts!
