Noob question on options
Hello Everyone, I am a new member that has been lurking for while. I have been looking for a 72 C10 for a while and was hitting all the usual places. I finally found one on CL and decided to get it.
Was wondering if anyone has seen many custom deluxe trucks with the options that this one has? The truck is all original except for the white paint on top. The OP stated that this was a farm truck and was stored in an old barn when he received it from a friend of his grandfathers (it has the dirt dobbers to prove it, ha, ha). The truck runs good however it needs a full blown tune up and new compressor. I am glad there are so many experts here as I know I will have many questions coming. BTW, I hope the pictures turn out as the one that I posted in the welcome area was turned wrong and a nice guy turned it around for me. Thanks, CC |

Re: Noob question on options
According to the spid it looks like the white is original. The green plaid trim is a highlander I believe. Nice find how bout more pics of engine, interior etc...

Re: Noob question on options
Hello Dale,
Thanks, What I meant was the top had been painted as some point and the green is original. The green plaid is confusing to me as the seat is solid green vinyl with no scrolls and seems to be original to the truck but not to sure. Here are a few more pictures. |

Re: Noob question on options
Great, Thanks.
I guess after the clean up, tune up and new condenser (and what ever else on the air conditioner), I will be looking for the correct seat covers. CC |

Re: Noob question on options
Welcome to the board! Nice looking Highlander you have there as others have mentioned. However the truck is a Highlander Plaid trim truck and not one of the "package" trucks (coded YG6-YG8). The seat cover you have now is most definitely a replacement. The correct seat cover will be a challenge as it will need to custom made with the dominate strip running correctly and the center scroll embossment. Looks like you need a black carpet too. The paint code is correct for the conventional two-tone as painted. Here is my standard "Highlander" blurb to clear up specifics for you and others as well.
Highlander Plaid was a trim only option based on Z62 Custom Deluxe or Z84 CST (Blazer only) optioned vehicles. In addition, promo packages A,B and C were offered that bundled several options with the Plaid trim. Thus a promo package truck was a Highlander but a Highlander was NOT ALWAYS a promo package equipped truck. Highlander Plaid trim codes All include black dash pad, steering column (with or without tilt) and carpet. In addition the door panels, visors, console (Blazer only) and seat belts were always parchment (white). Seat vinyl was also parchment and the insert color is determined by the specific code. So the only variable color keyed component was the insert color of the seatcovers. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Pickups Custom Deluxe Z62 mandatory option Green 613 Blue 611 Gray 604 Orange 618 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Suburbans Custom Deluxe Z62 mandatory option Green 647 Blue 642 Gray 639 Orange 651 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>. Blazer CST Z84 mandatory option Green 680 Blue 677 Gray 671 Orange 686 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Promo package codes A= YG6 Plaid Trim, Special Wheelcovers C10 (PA1) or Chrome Hubcaps C20-30 (PO3), Chrome Front Bumper, Upper (Belt) Molding, Door Edge Guards and Below Eye-Line Mirrors. B= YG7 Adds Turbo-Hydramatic Trans., Power Steering and Tilt. C= YG8 Adds A/C and Tint.

Hello All and thanks for the welcome. Don't feel bad Dale, I have them days too ha.
Tim, Thanks so much for your input, this gets me a lot closer to understanding my truck. From what I understand I should be looking out for the correct material used. I hope someone still makes it. Thanks again everyone. CC |

Re: Noob question on options
Welcome and nice truck. SMS may have the fabric for the Highlander, but I second with the post before that it won't be cheap. My truck originally had a Custom Deluxe interior, and when I found the fabric and priced up the work it was going to be expensive ($800) so I went with a nice seatcover from board vendor pickmup with the herringbone (cheyenne?) fabric and haven't looked back.
Interesting to see parchment belts in a green truck too - I'm no Highlander expert, but I know there are many on this board. Wondering if that was original. |

Re: Noob question on options
The Highlander trim trucks had white seat belts. Like I said earlier the only variation was the insert color.

Re: Noob question on options
1972 only as far as the 67-72 trucks are concerned.
