I have not seen my name in print so much since I was wanted in 12 states for a crime that I did not commit. LOL Sorry again, Andy is right he hit me up so quick and left. Then in front of my truck I was not thinking. Apologies to both of you. But the tri 5 guys and first series trucks are invited to the San Diego Cruise on July 20. Maybe that will make up for the lack of introductions. |

Re: Pics from the Brothers Truck Show
Man, only 1 show a year around this area (without driving 100 miles or so).. makes me want to move back to SOCAL. (I'd be single if I did though)

Hp1957, may I ask where you got that bra for your truck? I wouldn't be so afraid to drive mine with something like that

Re: Pics from the Brothers Truck Show
Harvey, your truck and mine have a little in common: I'm running old school running gear too: a rumpety-rump idling 283 w/ TH350 and Camaro rear end.
I keep debating IFS vs. dropped axle with myself. I'm back & forth mostly because of cost but also it's a "slippery slope". If I go ifs I'll need a column, then power steering pump - BUT I've got early camel hump heads w/no holes, so the cost of specialty brackets...and "while I'm there" may as well get the brackets for an AC compressor, yada, yada...maybe you can relate! I useto have a rumpety-rump 283 in my truck thanks to a big Isky cam. Have you thought about taking the serpentine system off a camaro or truck, will that work for you? Just a thought |

Re: Pics from the Brothers Truck Show
Never even considered it. No holes in my heads (the ENGINE's, I know what you were thinking! Lol). I've got the old camel hump heads so I just assumed pretty much nothing later factory will fit on it.
I don't even know what cam is in it. The old man original owner had "a kid" rebuild the engine and he didn't like how it came out - too radical for him. It doesn't develop enough vacuum to be able to run a master cylinder booster. I'd like to substitute a milder cam; Ive read a Comp Cams 268 is a nice one for it that will still give me vacuum but I don't trust myself to do it without messing up. Posted via Mobile Device |

You can do just take your time. Im going to change the cam in my truck soon. Watch me screw it up. LOL!! After looking, I dont think the serpentine set up will work either. I have to look, but I think it bolted to the head and water pump. |

Re: Pics from the Brothers Truck Show
I agree with VDOG that you can do the cam change. The SBC is pretty straight forward to work on.
