Installing a 383 Stroker - woo hoo!
As you can tell I am excited about the new update to my 58 TF. I am having a 383 Stroker 440HP/425TQ built for me. It should be done in a couple weeks. Then off to get it dropped into the 58.
I wonder what that equates to at the wheel? Anyway I know it is not going to be a 10 second truck, but it should be a little more fun than my tired 350! |

The next issues is to consider installing the CPP 400 power steering unit while the headers are out of the truck. Has anyone had experience with installing the CPP400? |

Re: Installing a 383 Stroker - woo hoo!
The long block is done! It shows up tomorrow...looking forward to getting my truck back... with that bad boy engine...10:1 hyperuetectic pistons, aluminum heads, roller rockers and thumpy cam. My only problem now will be finding ceramic coated headers to match back to my exhaust.
I gave up on the CPP400. It just didnt look like we could get the headers and their power steering unit in the truck. Their unit is 2.5 inches wider than the stock steering box. Too bad... |

Re: Installing a 383 Stroker - woo hoo!
Yep... still waiting.
Installed the new engine, had to upgrade headers which took a couple of weeks to find and fit so that it wouldn't hit the steering box. Then the new balanced motor was out of balance. Had to re-weight the flywheel. Still out of balance. Now the whole engine had to be removed again. Well it is finally back from being balanced...again... and they are putting it back in today. I am keeping my fingers crossed. I realize that things can go sideways when you get into swapping engines and upgrading parts, but this is taking a lot more time than I expected. The good thing is that the engine will have a 70,000 mile warranty on it when I am done so I expect it will be all dialed in soon. And luckily my installer has an extra bay that the truck could safely wait until the parts and engine came back. I hope to show off some pictures soon. |

My stroker gets about 4 MPG in my 55.
At this point, I don't care! Just glad to have it back! |
