84 1-ton crew cab dually lug nuts
hey everyone... i just bought a 1984 C30 Crew Cab Dually Silverado in pretty decent shape for very little dollars, to be used as my tow vehicle for my 1966 Chevy Biscayne drag car... and just starting to go through it and fix a lot of nightmare wiring and some leaking this and that... and the usual rust and TLC needed... but right now i'm trying to replace what one would think is really easy to replace, lug nuts.. and i'm running into some conflicting info about what lug nuts i should even be using...
i pulled one of my front lug nuts off (all my 6 wheels seem to be identical at a brief glance, 16" steel wheels), and it's a bit mutilated but i measure a 45 degree bevel on the 9/16-18 acorn nut... but according to say, Rockauto, the lug nuts they list are all 60 degree nuts... I'm not sure now which is correct... the lug nuts had been horribly overtightened and abused on the truck, as well as the wheel where they sit, so it's hard to get a clean angle reading... it sure looks like a 45 degree... and i managed to find the same identical lug nut for sale by Gorilla, PN 21198, a 45 degree (and crazy expensive at $7 each... yikes), but should i be using the 60 degree (and much cheaper open lug nuts) instead? thanks! |

Re: 84 1-ton crew cab dually lug nuts
If your 84 dual wheel is th same as my 88V30, the wheel rims should be Acurides. They are hub piloted and used with a "ring' or tightinging plate. The GM number for the 9/16" fine thread nuts is: 334387. I have my lug nuts in there original blue box and the date on the box is 6/26/90. I don't know if your Chevy or GMC dealer still can get them.......

Re: 84 1-ton crew cab dually lug nuts
thanks for all the info! i ordered a few and will check the bevel for future reference before i mangle it myself... the previous owner(s) of my truck butchered a lot, so everything i work on is questionable
