Good simple aftermarket A/C

My '73 K20 does not have A/C and I would like to add it. I heard of a kit that sits on the floor as an all in one system and gets wired in to the truck. Anyone know of something like that or any other recommendation?

Look up Vintage Air. That sounds like what you are talking about.

No, that actually goes in the dash. This system is like a kit that just sits on the floor so it can be easily removed and then you just wire it in or plug it in to the cigarette lighter.

They sell a kit that goes under the dash too. They also have the kit where you install into the factory vent holes (for the factory look)

Aside from this I have no idea. Never heard of one like that, esp the cigarette lighter plug.

I don't think that is purely electric tho, you still need to run lines to an AC compressor in the engine compartment.

Have you priced just going with a factory setup? Also, don't be one of those guys that just runs an inverter, and hooks up a window unit. Every time I see one of those in a van I laugh.

I'm actually surprised a finished all electric unit isn't available with a built in inverter. It would take a stout charging system but it seems doable to me and upgrading an alt is less work than installing a compressor and all the other parts.

The problem with a factory set up the firewall is different ac vs none and all the factory stuff would be used and probably wore out.In the long run a kit like vintage air is cheaper its all brand new and bolts right in.
