rag joint bolt in replacement

Hello all,

I know there are discussions about direct bolt in steering shaft that come from some models of jeeps?

I am heading to the junk yard and wondering what really, if any, bolt in without to much modification. I will keep my eyes open in the yard.

Anyone have first hand info about what year and make???

Thanks,
Chris

Here you go.

I know for a fact a shaft from any standard(not Grand) Cherokee will work.
I have also heard that some Grand Cherokee shafts will work, something from 1984 to the mid 90s. But I have never seen one, so I'm not sure.
Just make sure the ends of the one you decide to pull look like the ones in the pictures and you will be fine.

Re: rag joint bolt in replacement

I did one a year ago with great success. There were two different ones though so here was my write-up.

Re: rag joint bolt in replacement

Thanks for the links, I grabbed a shaft today for 11$. There must have been 6 cherokees in a row. One had the motor out and everything out of the way. It was the easiest and most productive five minutes i ever spent in a junk yard..
