securing fan shroud?
Hey gang!
So, I replaced the leaky 4 row radiator of unknown origin with a nice 3 row and a functional fan shroud. I didn't change the lower radiator mounts, but everything went together in a way that seemed like it all meant to work together. So far so good. However, I don't see how to secure the bottom of the fan shroud. It fits perfectly with the radiator, and looks like there's a tab on each side that should slide into something, but I don't see what that something is. The lip of the core support is a bit below that, so maybe I'm missing something. Possibly I need new lower rubbers? Does anyone have a picture of how the bottom of their fan shroud is secured? That would help a lot. Thanks!! |

No pictures but there are two metal clips that secure the bottom. They slide onto the lip on the core support and the shroud slips down into them. LockDoc

Oh! Is there a source for these? What would I search for?

Re: securing fan shroud?
On the parts board.
I just typed in "shroud clips" in the google search box above, clicked on the circle in front of "67-72chevytrucks.com" and clicked on the "Google" button. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=581641 http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=534206 One of them is an old thread but the pictures are good. I'm thinking those might be a little small. I went out and crawled under the '70 and mine measure 7/8" wide and 1 1/4" tall. I don't have a clue if they are available new or not.... Probably have to keep a lookout on the parts board. LockDoc

Re: securing fan shroud?
Thanks for the responses and the photos!
I'll have to check to see if the clips are on the core support I got with the radiator... the truck and parts are at a friend's house. In the meantime, i'll see if I can find a source for the clips. Otherwise, I might have to fab something. |
