Exclamation 700r4! Need help asap!

Okay so I'm doing a swap. The old 4 speed with granny gear. To a new 700r4. Now has anyone done the swap before? I have no idea how to hoo up the detent cable or the T.V. Cable for the adding gear. I have an edelbrock 1406 performer carb. If anyone has any pictures or brackets you can show me that would be perfect. Does edelbrock make te brackets for the throttle an the passing gear? Plazas e post pics. I need help asap! Thanks

Go to Edelbrock.com and they have all the brackets you need. Can also get them from Summit, Jegs, etc.

As for adjusting the TV cable, I'd suggest www.bowtieoverdrives.com for info on how to adjust it or take it to a trans shop to have them do it correctly, because improper adjustment will destroy the trans.

I got mine from bowtieoverdrives. They sell all the parts to get it done right.

bowtieoverdrives also sells adaptor for your carb: (can see pics here)

You will also need a lockup brake switch and wiring.

Also recommend transmission lines and a cooler.

I used a pressure gauge to check the transmission pressure while adjusting the tv cable. Bowtieoverdrives sells the kit w temp guage.

Hope that helps.

Re: 700r4! Need help asap!

Like stated above I went to BowTie Overdrive and got every thing needed for the installation. You will need to know what year 700R4 you will be installing because the speedo changes (mechanical or electronic) heres a help full link http://www.technicalvideos.com/what_year_700R4.phtml Also check on the number of splines (27 or 30) on the rear output shaft. To get the geometry correct on the TV cable you will need to order the correct adapter plate assy for the carberator you have. Find out what diff ring gear you have and tire size to get the correct speedo gear. Mine was a 500cfm Edelbrock... Make sure you get every thing Bowtie Overdrive suggests for the installation because it is very important for the operating trans pressures.. My truck been running strong for over a year with no problems and you will see the big difference this swap makes....

In order for it to work correctly, and as designed, yes, you will need the correct brake light switch and the wire harness to control the lockup portion.

Some will advise that you just connect it to a toggle switch to turn it on and off, but that is sort of a hack way of doing it. Get the right parts, and it'll work very smoothly and you'll be a lot happier.
