oil sending unit solution

This is an answer for some of us not so mechanically inclined..... for mechanical guage, remove factory sending unit, insert bushing and adapt line to 1/8 npt for mechanical guage.......not connected to company in anyway

I just drilled and tapped the small adapter on the driver side of the oil pan. installed the factory sender and my factory gauge works..

So that fits where the stock oil sensor for the ls screws in?

So if you take the senor that is in the block now out and make it where you can use a mechanical as in the truck now how does the computer work and where does it hook up?
I have the Speed Hut electric gauge in the truck now would I be able to to hook straight up to the electric sendor in it now u think?
U can see the electric senor on the fire wall above the runners on drivers side.

well my harness place removed the oil pressure sensor from the harness i'm told the computer doesn;t need it

The factory oil pressure sender on the 4.8/5.3/6.0's is only for the oil pressure gauge in the trucks they came in. The PCM does not need the oil pressure sender so that's why you can eliminate it and use your mechanical gauge

Auto meter sells an adaptor bushing, to go into the top of the block. It is listed for elect gauge apps....but if you add an 1/8" pipe male/1/8" tube compression fitting, you can run a mechanical oil pressure guage right off the top of the block. It was 14 bones for both parts....the auto meter "bushing: was 11 dollars, & the 1/8" tube , compression/ 1/8" male pipe Was a 3 dollar Napa part? My oil pressure guage will hook in about the same spot as it did with the Gen I smallblock. Longhorn

I did the drill and tap the oil filter adapter for the stock 350 item AND plan on using the stock oil pressure sending unit as I want to monitor the OBDll with a remote Android

I snapped the plastic part of the stock sender off then drilled and tapped it for 1/8" NPT.
Works like a charm.

I did the same thing, but with the autometer sending unit I have it hits the valley cover bolt right there. Will the autometer adapter get the sending unit high enough to clear that bolt?

Right now I have a temp sensor in there just to fill the hole... haha

Actually tapped the fitting by the oil filter myself, used an oil plug to cap the hole on mine.....

I might have to tap the block off plate by the filter, just thought it would be much cleaner/easier to wire in the stock location than down there.

Does your oil pressure sending unit have wires going to the PCM?
