Stock speakers
I would like to see some pictures and get some tech info on the stock speaker setup for my 66, it had a speaker in it that just floated around on the passenger side, a careless passenger stepped on it and now it doesn't work I removed it and now I am looking into replacing it, I want to put one under the dash but I can't find much info on how it actually mounted or what size the box is or even where I might find one for a reasonable price. Please help I can't stand not having any tunes while driving.

Re: Stock speakers
Stock speaker would be under the center of the dash.

Re: Stock speakers
Heres a pic off the forum to help a little. You should be able to get a good location of where it is by the opening and notice the wiper motor placement.

Re: Stock speakers
1963 C-10 that is a great photo of the setup. It you look at the right hand side there is a little bent dogleg shaft that fits in a hole in the upper dash. Usually had a wingnut on it that you tightened after you pushed the rubber cushion against the dash crease. It kind up wedged itself up in place. There is also a metal brace that comes up from the radio and attaches to the speaker. You can have your speaker reconed if it can be straightened. Good luck.

Re: Stock speakers
I don't know where I would get all the components and a speaker that would fit (mine doesn't have any of it), I was thinking of putting a small speaker in each defroster vent that would leave me a lot more under-dash space and make use of the two holes in my dash, would the speakers project sound well if I had them there?

Re: Stock speakers
thanks paul, but I can only take credit for reposting the picture.
AJ....the speakers are reproduced and if you check the classifieds here, they do pop up. I believe off the top of my head the speaker is around 4x10"

Re: Stock speakers
The repop speakers sound great, they have dual coils...i have one in mine with one of the usa-230 radios that look reasonably old school enough to blend in, and hook both front channels up to the new speaker. If i recall, it comes with the brackets for it too (like one off each side) and you just have to find the rubber piece that snugs it into the curve of the dash.

Re: Stock speakers
Pretty sure this is what i got, two speakers in one, had the bracket and moved my rubber piece over.
